Josh Beamish in the Globe and Mail!
Last October, Paula Citron from the Globe & Mail wrote this profile prior to the Toronto presentation of Trap Door Party in October 2008. Move: The Company & Josh Beamish was mentioned again in December 2008, receiving the "Paula Citron Dance Award" for best Chutzpah! Ms. Citron describes the annual awards as "purely subjective from this dance writer's perspective" but keep in mind, she is a very well-respected dance reviewer and she has seen EVERYTHING!!

Other Josh Beamish Work
Josh Beamish is coming to Courtenay. That is great. Did you know he was at our festival in the '90s? Did you know that he is one of the most promising young choreographers in Canada? Did you know that Ballet Kelowna engaged him to choreograph a series of contemporary ballet works for them? We are really looking forward to his workshops and performance.

Josh Beamish Master Class/ Performance

Performance: Monday March 9th, 7:30 PM, Sid Williams Theatre, Courtenay
Josh Beamish is an amazing artist and he will be visiting Courtenay in March. He will be conducting master classes for all interested dancers. The dance work is influenced by contemporary, ballet and modern dance techniques from classically rooted barre to the exploration of release and relaxation through movement. The classes may also experiment with dance by manipulating choreographic sequences using imprvoisation.
Josh began dancing at the age of 3, in Edmonton, Alberta. He received his formal training in Kelowna, B.C.. Upon moing to Vancouver, he continued his training at PacificDance Arts, while also dancing for the
Source Dance Company. Josh has worked as an
assistant choreographer, dance captain and dancer in
various feature films and television. In 2005, at the
age of 17, Josh founded, MOVE and remains its Artistic
Director.
Blog creation: This blog has been created for feedback about the master classes at the Gemini Dance Studio and the performance at the Sid Williams Theatre.
